Story Synopsis: A recently widowed author impulsively decides her next book will be a biography of artist Helen Ralston. Surprised to learn the artist is still alive and well in her nineties, the narrator begins to meet with her and uncover uncanny similarities between their lives. After several improbable coincidences, the author must ask, who is interviewing whom?

Why does this book beguile? I’ve been in a “weird girl novel” phase, and this certainly fits the bill. A short novella, clocking in at 104 pages, My Death is a bit of a mind-bender and explores why we like the things we do, how we express it, and what secrets we keep from our past and future selves.
